Dr. Elizabeth (Liz) Hirschhorn is a licensed clinical psychologist in the state of Washington (PY #60732905) and is enrolled in PSYPACT, which permits her to practice in 43 states under corresponding state laws. She earned her B.A. in Psychology in 2008 from Williams College in Williamstown, MA. She then completed her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology in 2016 at the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC, where she gained practical experience in university counseling centers, community health, and hospital settings. Dr. Hirschhorn completed her predoctoral clinical psychology internship at the George E. Wahlen Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Salt Lake City, UT. She went on to complete a postdoctoral residency in Geropsychology at VA Puget Sound Health Care System, American Lake Division in Tacoma, WA.
Dr. Hirschhorn served as a Staff Psychologist at the American Lake Division from 2017-2025, where she provided integrated mental health services within VA Primary Care for a diverse Veteran population living with mental and physical health difficulties. Along with other common behavioral health concerns in medical settings, Dr. Hirschhorn’s practice included assessment and treatment of the effects of traumatic experiences across the lifespan.
During her time at the VA, Dr. Hirschhorn also served as the Associate Director of the Psychology Training Program, supervised predoctoral and postdoctoral psychology trainees, and was a longstanding member of the Diversity Committee within the training program. She is passionate about helping people understand and apply psychological concepts and skills to their own contexts. Dr. Hirschhorn seeks to help patients, professionals, and organizations move towards their goals using knowledge related to mental health.
Dr. Hirschhorn believes that a profession is one part of a person’s broad and complex identity. She enjoys being outdoors in all kinds of weather, spending time in her community and abroad, being with family and friends, and greeting every dog she sees.
